Meal Cards

Journalism Workshops offers meal cards in the amount of $60 and $35 for students attending workshops. These cards are in addition to the registration fee and can be purchased using the registration form or at check-in the day workshops begin.

Meal cards can be used to purchase food on campus and are a convenient way to ensure your student has a budget for meals for the time he or she is on campus. We generally suggest a $60 meal card for 5-Day and DN Experience attendees and a $35 card for On The Ball Attendees. Meal cards are hole-punched so that students can carry them securely on their name badges, which they are required to wear throughout their stay on campus.

Meal cards come preloaded in $35 and $60 amounts.

Students will eat most of their meals at The Atrium, a dining facility located on the first floor of the Art and Journalism Building, where students will be attending classes. The Atrium features a Sbarro Pizzeria, Chick-Fil-A, made-to-order sandwich and salad bar, McKinley Grill and more. For more information about The Atrium, click here: Atrium Web site

The Atrium accepts meal cards, cash and Visa/Mastercard. Students can expect to spend about $2-$3 for breakfast,  $5-7 for lunch and $5-7 for dinner.

The Village

Students also may choose to eat in The Village, a small business district on campus that features a Jimmy John’s, China Express, Pita Pit, Subway and local restaurants such as Greek’s Pizzeria and Scotty’s Brewhouse. Students are not permitted in The Village after 10 p.m., but can use cash or major credit cards to eat there during the day.
